Got My Butt Kick by the One Hour Time God!



Trying something harder but can't take it toward more of a finish stage before my one hour time limit. I hope by the end of summer, I can speed paint environment wayyyyyy better than I do now.

  1. One hour? From your head? If it's from your head, it's better to paint from photo. If your purpose is to test yourself, I'd say the same thing like my other post, contrast of light and shadow. When squint down the value are almost the same. And it's hard to see your character. Oh one thing I got from reading other prof. Gave crit to other student...the light itself also have it's form and shape. I think you can design the ray of light better, but again, u should have reference for that. And values, the tree on the left I guess should be way darker cus it closest to your light source. The area on the right, also darker and u can think about light on dark, dark on light to make your character pops. But I do think this painting is good in overall man, just push values and really study light will be awesome!

  2. Due thanks man. I have been painting screen shot and this one is from the lord of the ring, the second one I think. I agree with walhat u said that's why I don't like this one much as well.

  3. No prob man. It's the only way we can get better man! I think one thing to concern about picking a screen shot from a movie is that u might get unnatural light. you already know everything from movie is set up. So if your purpose is to study how they set up the light to tell story that's fine. So when u told me this is from the LOR movie, so may be your value was close to your reference. It just doesn't look natural to me thats all.
